The preoperative consultation is the foundation of the surgical approach and allows Dr. Calvin Johnson to evaluate what course of action is best for each person. He believes it is important to understand the most pressing concerns of the patient.

Two important components of this preoperative understanding are photographic analysis and the mirror examination. We employ front and lateral digital photographs at half life size for the initial consultation visit. Patients can thus visualize their own faces more objectively, and Dr. Johnson may draw out the proposed changes that the procedure may achieve. In addition to digital photographs, a standard facial worksheet may be used to illustrate potential incision and ensure adequate communication of expectations.

The mirror examination provides an opportunity to show patients these changes on their own face as well as to illustrate what can and cannot be achieved with a given technique. Dr. Johnson's goal is to produce a natural result that does not inappropriately change the patient's unique facial appearance.

After spending time with Dr. Johnson, each patient has the opportunity to tour the surgical suite and guest rooms, meet with the business manager to discuss fees and, if desired, schedule surgery.
